Sustainable materials at the Royal Society

There was a fascinating talk at the Royal Society on Monday by Dr Julian Allwood of the University of Cambridge on sustainable materials. The focus was on improving the effectiveness and/or efficiency of our use of steel, aluminium and cement as a means of reducing GHG emissions. This is particularly important as these are carbon-intensive materials that are fundamental to our civilisation and with no viable substitutes.

Brite Green Global Policy Seminars – University of Oxford

This week was the latest in the Brite Green Global Policy Seminars series at the University of Oxford. The seminar,  run in conjunction with The Institute of Human Sciences, OXPEACE and the African Studies Centre, was entitled “Environmental Conflict and its resolutions” has three excellent speakers: Karen Witsenburg, Harry Verhoeren and Andrew Loveridge.
